Man seen ‘pointing handgun’ near Derbyshire retail park

Police are appealing for information after receiving reports a man was seen pointing a handgun in a Derbyshire town.

A picture released by officers this afternoon shows a heavy police presence in Ilkeston on Sunday night to investigate the alarming reports.

Derbyshire police say they were called to Station Road, near the town’s retail park.

However, despite attending officers could not find the suspect.

Officers have appealed to the public urging them to come forward with further information.

A tweet from the Derbyshire Armed Response Unit said: “A night time deployment to Ilkeston – report of male pointing a handgun on Station Road near the retail park.

“Despite assistance from @DerbysDogPolice and @DerbyshireRCT ’s drone we were unable to locate the suspect. If you have any info please ring.”
