Derby man caught drink-driving twice in two months

A 29-year-old Derby motorist has been jailed after being caught drink-driving twice in just over two months.

Nigel Knapton’s first offence saw him stopped while behind the wheel of a Hyundai car in Moor Lane, Barrow on Trent, on December 3 last year.

At the time the defendant, of Allenton, was deemed by officers to be unfit to drive through drink.

Then on February 7 of this year he was stopped while driving a Vauxhall Sharan in Osmaston Road, Derby, and blew a reading of 83 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 35.

Knapton, of Upper Moor Road, was charged and pleaded guilty to one count of drink-driving, one count of being unfit to drive through drink and to driving without insurance or a valid licence.
