British Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Just Lost Her Chance At British Citizenship

British Royal Family News says that Meghan Markle is no longer qualified to become a British citizen, despite being married to Prince Harry. In order to become a UK citizen, Meghan had to live in the UK for at least three years in order to apply for citizenship as a spouse or civil partner.

But now that she and Harry have been living in California for almost a year, she lost out on her opportunity to become a true Brit.

As many fans know, Meghan moved out of the U.K. last year, before she reached the three-year mark. She moved to the U.K. in November 2017, so she would have had to have lived there until at least fall 2020.

Harry and Meghan now live in Montecito, California, where they purchased a $14 million dollar home. According to sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to return to London full-time anytime soon.

One source close to the situation told People Magazine, “Despite everything that has been going on this year, they don’t regret their move to the U.S. They love that they are able to focus on projects and causes that are important to them.”

A source close to the couple also revealed: “It was always their dream to be financially independent and pay their own way. [2020] started out with a lot of excitement and anticipation. Harry was finally doing what he’d wanted to do for years, and to have Meghan and [20-month-old son] Archie with him was all he could have asked for.”

So far neither Harry nor Meghan have made any comments about their future plans.
